A Quiet Week

This week’s post is a bit belated, and it’ll be shorter as there’s not much news to report. Things have been quiet around here—something I like to refer to as an in-between period—and as I prep myself to jump into draft two of The Hunter, the Hunted, I find myself in a somewhat isolated, reflective headspace.

I’m not journaling as much as I should, which causes somewhat of a “brain clog” that prevents me from getting any substantial amount of work done. I have, however, spent some quality time with friends to balance out the internal push to keep working. I recognize that I probably need to take a step back and actually rest, refill my inner sources, so that I can come back feeling fully equipped to take on this next phase in writing—but it’s difficult when we live in a society hyperfixated on constant creation.

A few things that have lingered with me lately:

  • Concerns over genAI as it pertains to the future of creative industries, cognitive functioning, and the environment;

  • How refreshing it is to still be able to find moments of joy when the news seems to be flooded with badness and atrocities;

  • My thoughts are loud and hard to ignore;

  • The current state of the world and where/how I see myself fitting in while still leaving an impact.

Clearly, I’ve been in my head a lot recently, and maybe there’s something here that you dear readers might resonate with, or something that might spark your own thought-spiral.

Forgive any clunky-ness or inconsistencies with these posts. I’m still trying to ease into a weekly routine of writing and posting, and I haven't yet decided how I want to go about it. I have a unique opportunity here where I’m freer to express my thoughts on happenings in life and on the writing front outside the limitations of Instagram. I'm just not very practiced in it, yet. That's another goal: to grow more confident in sharing my thoughts—both online and in person. The latter is much easier said/imagined than done, but writing weekly posts like these is good practice, I suppose.

At this point, I'm rambling, but hopefully you get the idea.

Next week, I hope to return to you with more thought-provoking things to say, but for now, I’ll leave it here and wish you all an easy, restful weekend.
